Baudouin 6M12G8D3/5 vs Perkins 1206A-E70TTAG2: 200 vs 180 kWe prime at 50 Hz
If the project needs more than 180 kWe of prime output, comparing standby figures alone can lead to the wrong shortlist. These source configurations occupy different prime-power steps.
Quick comparison: matching documented ratings
Diesel · 50 Hz. Figures refer to the identified source configurations, not Haifeng test results. Confirm the exact build and site conditions before selection.
| Rating basis | Baudouin 6M12G8D3/5 | Perkins 1206A-E70TTAG2 |
|---|---|---|
| Standby · 50 Hz | 220 kWe | 200 kWe |
| Prime · 50 Hz | 200 kWe | 180 kWe |
Source scope and checks before selection
- Perkins values refer to PN3185/06/18, page 4, not every later build or alternator. Confirm the offered version.
- No common site-derating or load-step test is available. These are document ratings, not a guarantee of usable output at the destination.
Which should you shortlist?
The Baudouin table lists 200 kWe prime and 220 kWe standby. Perkins PN3185/06/18 lists 180 kWe prime and 200 kWe standby. A requirement above 180 kWe prime excludes that Perkins configuration before site derating is considered; for a lower load, ask about load acceptance, cooling and support rather than assuming the larger rating is better.
Three checks before requesting a quote
- Match the operating duty. Keep standby backup separate from prime variable-load operation. These 50 Hz ratings do not establish output at 60 Hz.
- Check the complete package: voltage, alternator, load steps, ambient temperature and altitude. Ask for the resulting site rating and test scope.
- Confirm support and documentation: exact engine suffix, serial-specific parts information, available service documents and destination-specific emissions evidence. A catalog label alone does not prove compliance.
Sources and comparison method
Reviewed 21 October 2026. This is a document and catalog comparison by Haifeng Machinery, an equipment supplier. Matching fuel, frequency and duty does not establish identical reference conditions or interchangeability. No independent test, price, stock or reliability ranking is claimed.

Can one replace the other?
A similar electrical rating is only a starting point. Mounting, coupling, cooling, controls, emissions and site requirements need a package-level review. Send the existing generator model or nameplate with your question.
